Tribal Tundra Sapphire Hoops
I love to wear the big tribal style hoops, but most of them are larger gauge than my earholes, and I don't want to stretch them out. This is my fix - big, bold, wire wrapped, filigree hoops, sparkling with faceted tundra sapphires, hanging from standard-sized earwires.
The hoops are wrapped with more than 30 feet of hair-thin, fine silver wire, sterling rolo chain, faceted tundra sapphire rondels, and round, Indian silver beads. The body of the hoop is about 1-1/2 inches long, and the earrings are 2-1/4 inches in total length. Many hours of patient and meticulous wrapping went into this design.
Even though they are impressive in size, their light weight is even more impressive! They weigh in at just a hair over 15 grams for the pair! Perfect for wearing all day, without dragging your ears down!
