  • The problem that I have had is with people not giving the correct address through Paypal. Then they email a month later mad because they haven't gotten their item and they file a complaint with Paypal....apparently, I'm supposed to know that they have moved three towns away and the address on their Paypal account is three years out of date....

Sorry, still a little p.o.'d because I had one returned to me yesterday and the buyer expects me to pay to ship it again.
  • This in itself is the perfect reason to REQUIRE insurance on ANY item that you send out.

It protects you, AND the buyer.

Dosnt matter if it makes sense at all.
    • tracking number. $.50 more, but it covers you with both entities.
      • Everything I sell - I send registered return receipt mail w/insurance.

That way if a buyer tries to say they never received the item - you will have that wonderful little green card w/ the buyers signature on it obtained by the postal carrier at the time of delivery. It's a legal document issued by the USPO... It does cost more but it keeps you safe from the those who would otherwise try to get over on a seller
        • I was posting this link because many eBay vendors are now selling on Etsy. I have seen lots of shops there that accept PayPal, but in the policies say "We are not responsible for lost items". Since that conflicts with PayPal User Agreement, specifically section 13.1, Buyer Protection Programs, I thought I could give a heads up.
Etsy and eBay are not related, but PayPal rules applies to any site accepting their services.
          • that's true and the best way to protect yourself as a seller is to add in the cost of insurance (based on the item your selling) and the cost of a tracking label so your adding maybe $2 to your total.
If you're having a lot of problems with people paying with paypal and having incorrect addresses, put in writing that their paypal address must be the same as the mailing address or you will not ship to them, unless they specify it's being shipped as a gift to a gift address, but that information should go in their comments box (about it being a gift) and they should have the gift address saved in their paypal account, there's no reason they can't update their addresses in paypal and this also assures an unauthorized person isn't using someone else's account.
